Jonathan Plowright Piano Masterclass - The Polish Romantic Tradition
Saturday 10th November 2007, National Gallery of Ireland, Merrion Square, Dublin 2 (Shaw Room), 1 p.m. – 5 p.m
Piano Masterclass by Jonathan Plowright
6 advanced piano students will work on pieces by Chopin, Liszt, Schubert and J.S.Bach. Each student will play for 30-45 minutes, with Jonathan Plowright commenting/demonstrating, going back over the piece in sections, getting the student to try out suggestions. Feedback from other participants or members of the audience will be encouraged. See masterclass programme.
This will be a special chance for the public to hear up-and-coming Irish piano stars performing in public, on a Steinway concert grand instrument (Model D), in a major centre city Dublin venue, and receive expert advice on performance techniques from a world class virtuoso renowned recording artist of this repertoire.
Open to the public. No admission charge.· However, persons attending the masterclass will be given the opportunity to contribute directly to the children's charity Barnardos.
Barnardos supports children whose well-being is under threat, by working with them, their families and communities and by campaigning for the rights of children. Barnardos was established in Ireland in 1962 and is Ireland’s leading independent children’s charity.
All proceeds from Nóta's series of events at the Gallery in November will go to Barnardos.
